Derbyshire road closures: A6 Ambergate to be shut for five weeks
A busy Derbyshire road is set to close for five weeks while the council carries out resurfacing works. The A6, between Ambergate and Matlock, will be closed from 7pm to 5am, Monday to Friday, starting November 3. The closure will affect the junction with the A610 and the junction with Broadholme Lane.
The works will continue until December 3, with a signed diversion route for both heavy and light vehicles. The parish council has shared the details of the diversion route, which will be in place for both HGVs and light vehicles.
For HGVs heading south, the alternative route is as follows:
- A610: Riversdale/Ripley Road/Ladygrove/Ripley Road through to Hartshay Interchange.
- Follow the A38 to Palm Court Island.
- Follow the A6 north along Duffield Road/Burley Hill/Derby Road/Town Street/Milford Road/Derby Road/The Bridge/Derby Road/Chapel Street/Bridge Street/Matlock Road.
For light vehicles heading south, the alternative route is:
- Follow the A6 Matlock Road to the A517 at Belper.
- Turn off at B5023 and follow Wirksworth Road/Derby Road/Warmbrook/St James Street/Harrison Drive.
- Turn off at B5023 and follow Cromford Road/Steeple Grange/Cromford Hill/The Hill/Market Place.
- Then follow the A6 along Derby Road/Matlock Road.
