As seen in new Genshin Impact 5.0 leaks, the Spiral Abyss will have a game-changing quality-of-life (QoL) update. The Spiral Abyss is one of the main endgame activities for players to challenge themselves in HoYoverse’s action RPG, now joined by the Imaginarium Theater since Version 4.7. The activity constantly rotates its modifiers and opponents, offering fresh new challenges every period, as well as rewards for players to seize should they complete them. Starting with Version 5.0, after unlocking the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact, players may have an easier time claiming some rewards they are entitled to.
According to fresh new leaks about Version 5.0, which were shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” on Reddit, the Spiral Abyss activity will receive a massive QoL update, which will allow players to skip floors 9 and 10 and directly claim their respective rewards. As stated by the leak, this will be possible depending on their completion status from the previous period. As such, if players were already able to complete floors 9 and 10 in the previous Spiral Abyss period in Genshin Impact, the next time it refreshes, they will not be forced to challenge these floors again.

Essentially, if the leak is true, players will be able to save some of their time without having to fight through unchallenging fights and get right to where they start to feel the difficulty escalate. Floors 9 and 10 are fairly easy for more experienced players, and having to go through them ends up being a trivial task that is only done to obtain the rewards. If players get to skip them by proving they can go beyond those floors, this could be a huge time-saver in Genshin Impact, which is always appreciated considering how much grinding the game requires.
This new rumored QoL update to the Spiral Abyss seems to take inspiration from HoYoverse’s Honkai: Star Rail. In the turn-based RPG, the Memory of Chaos activity is the equivalent of the Spiral Abyss. The endgame activity in HSR also allows players to skip the previous levels and automatically claim the rewards. For instance, if they complete level 11, they can claim the rewards for all the previous levels, too. Players get to optimize time by tackling the highest challenge they can withstand and be fully rewarded, even if skipping the easier levels.
Even if it will not work exactly like this in Genshin Impact if the Version 5.0 leak about the Spiral Abyss is true, it does seem like a great QoL update. Lately, the action RPG has been investing heavily in making the experience smoother. World boss respawn timers were essentially removed with the current patch and, before that, the Resin cap was increased. Of course, there are still several issues to address, especially when it comes to farming.
The Resin cap increase, for instance, is suboptimal, whereas an increase in Resin’s regeneration rate would be much better.
For now, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt. Despite the fact that they are reported to be in the Version 5.0 beta tests, they may be incorrect, subject to change, or postponed to a future update. The game will certainly undergo massive changes with the arrival of Natlan. HoYoverse is being heavily criticized for the lack of representation in Natlan characters in Genshin Impact, and the community is hoping some changes to character designs will occur before the new nation arrives – which should appear in beta tests, if the company attends to the demands.
