Dean of Faculty at Billings Middle School
Billings Middle School is seeking a Spanish Language teacher to join our faculty. This is a full-time position for the 2024-25 school year starting August 19, 2024.
Billings is an independent school in the Pinehurst area of North Seattle. We are a dynamic academic community intentionally designed to stretch, support, and inspire early adolescent learners through experiential education to foster social, emotional, and academic growth. We teach, model, and instill core values of individuality, inclusivity, exploration, intellectual challenge, social justice, integrity, creativity, collaboration, and fun!
Billings faculty embody a professional model of collegiality and innovation and contribute to the understanding and development of best practices for early adolescent teaching. Teachers challenge students to be critical thinkers and powerful self-advocates. When students graduate from Billings, they know how to work effectively with a broad range of teaching styles and carry the self-confidence to pursue mentor relationships throughout their lives.
Core Responsibilities
Teach 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Spanish
Support opportunities for integration of Spanish Language learning across the school
Serve as a Grade Level Advisor
Serve on one faculty committee
Attend all required meetings and school events
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in World Languages, Spanish, or related field
Knowledge of K-12 World Language Learning Standards
Awareness and interest in contributing to Billings’ mission
Embrace the values of equity, diversity, belonging, and social justice
Promote Billings’ mission and vision with a commitment to contributing to a positive culture of teaching, learning, wellness, and fun for the entire school community
Love of teaching, and enthusiasm for content area and middle school education
Experience teaching Art, additional content area, clubs, or coaching
Classroom management practices that are student centered, culturally competent, and proactive rather than reactive
Demonstrate understanding of the needs of neurodiverse learners
Reflective about teaching practice and areas for development and growth
Integrity and professionalism
Value and practice clear, respectful, and responsive communication
Faculty Position
Department: Humanities
Start Date: August 19, 2024
Salary Range: $54,00-$101,000 annual, dependent on experience and education. Additional stipend for current Washington State Certification. Additional stipends for overnight trips, coaching, and leading clubs.
